Aztoragarri - Final release Devlog 8

Bon dia, everyone, and welcome back to the monthly Aztoragarri dev log.

I believe it is appropriate to actually talk about the current game progress and when to expect the core base of the game to be finished, as well as an update on a possible release date, which will be given by the end.

Gameplay advancements:

-The puzzles of Chapter 3-3 have been programmed, and the AI of the previous boss has been adapted to function as a stalker enemy in this section.

-A new weapon, the rifle, has been added. It shoots high-damage rounds with three times the range that the handgun has and, just like the rest of the weapons, it serves also as a tool that can be used in a few puzzles. Its magazine offers six rounds.

-Polish to overall combat has been made, preventing the player from moving during attacks, to make them more vulnerable, as well as the sickle and the sledgehammer having their combo count reduced from 3 to 2, in order to make them less reliable and balance combat.

-Minor details, such as reducing the pitch of camera to 50 degrees maximum and -75 minimum in order to create a more realistic camera control and fix camera clipping during certain animations.

Narrative advancements:

-Chapter 4-2 has begun developing. Set in Cardona during dusk, it serves as the last hub-styled level in the game, as Chapter 5 will offer a different approach to presentation. At the moment, the entire structure of the castle, the main puzzle area, has been completed, leaving the village and the salt mines, which will be combat/narrative oriented areas, to be developed.

I shall now leave you with some images before discussing the overall game progress.

Progress:

So far, chapter 1 and 2 have been completed, although it is important to note that, due to overall quality improvement, they will most likely get changed or reworked further down development. What can be said surely is that chapter 3-2 and chapter 3-3 are mostly programmed, leaving some narrative elements to be done, and chapter 4-2 is currently under development.

Considering that the game is meant to have five chapters, with each chapter having three parts, a tad over half the game is done (before narrative elements and polish). At the current rate of around four months per chapter, by January 2026 only narrative and polish will be left to be done, meaning the proto-release date of Q2-Q3 2026 may still be plausible.

Once again, thank you for your attention, and may you all have a great day.

Bona nit!
