Aztoragarri - Final release Devlog 6
Bon dia, everyone, and welcome back once again for another Aztoragarri dev log.
For this past month, I have been focussing mainly on finishing the development of Urgell, the playable area of the main section of the third chapter, as well as implementing a new weapon; the pellet canon. For a first time in the development of the game, the respective puzzles of the developed area have not been completed, something to be ashamed of! But it was due to the complexity of the spacial modelling, as well as a bit of limited working time which may sadly be noticeable for the coming months, at the very least until summer, although further developing will of course be made.
Gameplay advancements:
As said before, the pellet canon has been fully implemented into the game. A pump-action long weapon that shoots powerful pellets, functioning essentially like a shotgun yet without being one (because it sounds more exotic, even though shotguns did exist in the time period the game is set in).
The weapon holds five rounds, and shoots 10 pellets that make around 10 points of damage each, meaning that you may kill most lesser enemies with a single shot, granted most of the pellets connect.
It can destroy armed doors, making it the most destructive weapon in the game so far and, to some extent, will mark a change of pace for the game from the moment of its acquisition.
Also, when reloading, since it is not a magazine based weapon like the handgun, no ammunition is lost during the reload, even if the chamber is not fully empty.
To balance out what would otherwise be such an overpowered weapon in comparison to the rest, the pellet canon is a reasonably slow weapon, both in reload action and wielding/unwielding. In addition, instead of pumping after shooting, the character pumps before shooting, so there is an extra second and a half between the action of shooting and the actual shooting.
Story advancements:
Following the development of La Seu d'Urgell, the new buildings done have been the monastery, the cathedral and the final section of the sewers. It may not seem like a lot, but take into consideration that the monastery is composed of four sub-buildings, those being; the southern monastery, the northern monastery, the tower and the underground library. All of this with a focus on making the level design more vertical, to switch up things a bit.
Also, as a curiosity, the cathedral is based on the real life Cathedral of Saint Mary of Urgell.
With not much more to say, apart from an apology for how late I am writing, I'll leave you with some visual guidance of the development.

Once again, thank you, and I hope life smiles to you.
Bona nit!
