Aztoragarri Final Release - Devlog 11
Good day, everyone, and welcome back to the hexa-annual development logs of Aztoragarri. In today's log, we will review the current state of the game, discuss important changes made or considered, and provide a plausible release date for a new, updated demonstration, consisting of the first of five acts.
First of all, the changes implemented in the game will be discussed:
-Gameplay: The Amon boss fight from the first act has been re-done and updated to better fit with the current direction of the game. Additionally, all the puzzles of the first act have been re-worked or directly created from scratch. Relevant dialogue interactions have also been sketched and require a quality check before the release of the first act.
-Narrative: The follow-up to the Apaioa Tower level has been created, being the village of Azpilkueta. The tutorial has also been developed along with the new main menu.
-Visual: Due to the import and decoration of the new models and textures, the visual aspect of the game has changed drastically. The game now contains greater quality models, realistic textures, and lighting has been slightly tweaked to be more believable. That does not mean Aztoragarri has suddenly become a hyper-realistic game; it is still low-poly and non-conventional artistically, it is just that the aim is to provide a higher quality experience. And graphics-wise, compared with the previous demonstration, we have.
Generally speaking, all the changes made have been mere development, and not nearly as relevant as the ones discussed in the previous log. Nonetheless, development is development.
Moving on to future plans and the current aim of the game, the possibility of an entire act taking place in different locations depending on the choices previously made has been considered and will most likely be implemented when the moment comes. Even if such ambition cannot be met, the idea is to, at least, have each scenario play slightly differently depending on the current path the player is taking. This is not only to add replayability, but to exploit the limits that computer games present further. The current idea for the game would then be this one:
Act: | Location: |
I | Elizondo (done). |
II | Sobrarbe. |
III | Urgell (Route A) / Camarasa (Route B). |
IV | Cardona. |
V | (Secret). |
As always, we will leave some images for you before the final announcement:
To conclude this log, we believe it is appropriate to give the very first release date for the first act of the game. Although nothing can really be promised and many factors could alter the development speed, the goal is to release Aztoragarri - Act I Beta around Halloween/Castanyada, which seems like both a reasonable release date considering the current state of the game and an appropriate point in time to release a horror-themed game.
Once again, thank you for your time and patience.
Bona nit!
